BiographyCarole Beauvais was born an artist in 1971. She currently lives and works out of Montreal, Canada. Beauvais’ life paints a portrait of a woman who has undergone struggles, great pleasures, but who cherishes life experiences and the continual quest for knowledge. Formal education, combined with a passion for exploration and travel have been interdependent values throughout her life. She has traveled the world. Beauvais embodies the perfect mixture of French Canadian culture and world influences. Beauvais graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts from Langara College in Vancouver, Canada. Having satisfied some of her thirst and curiosity of a foreign place, Beauvais returned to Montreal to obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Concordia University. Femininity is another strong, ongoing influence for this artist who was raised amongst women. Beauvais father prematurely passed. The all female Beauvais family of five supported each other, struggled with each other and did everything possible to fully benefit from each other. Beauvais shared many of the issues that are particular to women everywhere. She struggled with the difficulties of a single parent household. From this sense of connection and community amongst women, Beauvais paintings portray the importance of pleasure, happiness and optimism in life. Her art is very textural, revealing layers, reminding us of life. It is the expression of a heightened awareness to detail and the little sweet truths that one often forgets, or neglects in daily life. Feelings, exploration and innocent spontaneity inspire her work. Vibrant colors reflect the energy she experiences as an artist, a daughter, a sister, a lover, a mother and a friend. While Beauvais is better known for her nudes and abstracts, she also works with installations, drawings, sculptures and music. Mediums are utilized for their effectiveness in projecting a voice, revealing that sweet secret. Her art is inspired by life – in and out of the studio – and reflects the beauty drawn from the day’s movement. CAROLE BEAUVAIS |
